MOHS SURGERY FOR THE REMOVAL OF SKIN CANCER

Dr. Anders specializes in Mohs surgery. Mohs surgery is the removal of skin cancer by shaving off one layer at a time. A Mohs surgeon looks at each layer under a microscope. When the layers look normal (no cancer) the surgeon stops removing skin. The purpose of Mohs surgery is to remove all of the cancerous tissue while leaving as much of the healthy tissue as possible. It is especially helpful on highly visible locations such as the head and neck.

Mohs micrographic surgery is the most effective and state-of-the-art procedure for skin cancer today, which offers the highest potential for recovery - even if the skin cancer has been previously treated by another method and recurred.
